Today was a blah day for me most of the day. I am naturally a pretty introverted person and so when I get to spend a lot of time with a lot of people I have to back away for a little while and spend some time alone. Today was that day for me. I stayed in my classroom during conferences and lunch and watched The Queen (for the 6th time this week) and cleaned my desk. I know I hurt people's feelings, but it was unintentional and I tried to explain what I was doing so everything would be okay.
After school, I met Dacey, Trisha, and Trisha's daughters Madalyn and Jaley at Chuy's for dinner. The girls are hilarious and we spent a lot of time trying to get Maddie to shake her booty (she's 2 and Haley's 4).
Dacey and I headed to Starbucks and while I was on my way there I GOT TO TALK TO MEREDITH!!! This was very exciting for me because I got to hear all about Madalyn's birth from her Mama (although I was also enjoying reading about it on Adrienne's blog). It was wonderful to hear all about it (even though most of it sounds pretty horrible) I still love it.
I love hearing about births and watching them on the discovery channel. I think I should be a nurse for my next career and help out in labor and delivery...actually, I would work at a birthing center as a midwife...much more my style. I'm really content right now with raising other people's kids...I teach at a Title I school so for some of them, we are the only parents they have...so I don't know if I would ever want to have any of my own. I am a little baby-crazy though right now and everyone is pregnant. By everyone, I mean all of the student teachers on our campus who I'm pretty sure have family planned themselves to have the baby this summer before they start teaching in the fall. I'm not kidding...a ton of preggos walking around. We'll see...I don't know what God has in store for me yet, but I do know it will definitely involve children in some capacity. I love them and love working with them and helping them develop their gifts and personalities.

April 13-20
A lot of stuff happened I'm sure but I need to catch up to today so I can really make the journaling worthwhile for myself. Basically, I hung out with Dacey, worked on building friendships with Christy and Jenn (awesome), started going to a church I really like, and spent a LOT of time with my students and fellow teachers (especially Patty, Rachelle, and Anna - LC53 what, what!!!).
My best friend from college, Meredith, gave birth to Princess Madalyn on April 16...which is the greatest thing that happened so far this year. :) I got to spend time with Meredith during my Spring Break in March which was wonderful and then when I got home from that trip, I knew what her baby's ghetto fabulous name would be....Madalyquanda Sucrets Ryneisha Johnson (Johnson because her mama is Qu'neisha Rashelaronda Johnson). People call her Quanda, Sookie, and Sook. What a beautiful mama and baby (and the baby daddy ain't too bad either).

April 12
Easter...My cousins Jacob and Jennifer had everyone at their house. I LOVE MY FAMILY!!!
Dacey and I had to drive back to Spring later that day and it was probably one of the most horrible car rides EVER! Road trips with Dacey are always fun and we were having a great time until about 30 minutes North of Huntsville when my dog, Boone, started panting. Now Boone is a pretty hot-natured dog so we usually spend a lot of time rolling down windows or turning on the air full-blast to cool him off...but it just wasn't happening. Dacey, Sawyer (Dacey's dog), and I were all freezing and Boone wouldn't quit panting. Dacey figures he is in pain and his hip hurts him a lot so we felt bad but couldn't stop (did I mention we had no leashes for the dogs and we were on I45 at about 10 at night.) Suddenly, Dacey yells out...(if you have a weak stomach skip to the next blog and DO NOT read on to what Dacey yelled out) "Boone is pooping everywhere!!! (I warned you.)
Well, needless to say it was disgusting. We pull over to the side of the road and try to figure out what we are going to do. I can't get out because I'm driving and cars are flying past. We have no leashes so Dacey is going to have to take Boone out while holding all 65 lbs of him by his collar and letting him drag her all over the side of the road in pitch black darkness. I have to grab Sawyer to keep him from running into the oblivian and pull him into the front seat. Sawyer, the poor, skittish baby is shivering in the front passenger seat because we are on the side of the road, we've been screaming, I've grabbed him and pulled him by his collar into the front seat, and Boone sprayed him with the nastiness. (Again, I warned you not to read on.) Luckily, the boys were sitting on a blanket which Dacey pulled out of the car and (I'm so sorry) left on the side of the road. We did mess with Texas, but I think we can be excused in this one instance. I just hope nobody driving along thinks they found a great quilt and gets a horrible surprise.
The rest of the road trip was spent with the heater up as high as it would go and the windows down. We panicked whenever Boone moved, but whatever had made him sick was gone (and all over my leather). Thank God my seats cleaned easily, but it was a late night and made for very grouchy teachers the next day. Its funny now, but was surreal and horrifying at the time. Booney's my baby though so all is forgiven. :)

What Up, World? Boom Boom Is Here!!!

I turned 28 about a week and a half ago and promised myself I would start some sort of journal to chronicle this year of my life. There is not anything especially significant about my 28th year, but I do have some pretty significant memory loss and don't want to forget whatever happens to me this year (whatever that may be). Being the procrastinator that I am, I couldn't start immediately - it would be against my nature. For those that know me, you may actually think that I got a pretty early start considering how late I often wait to start things, but don't fret. I haven' t changed too much. Journaling/blogging/diary keeping (whatever my form of self-reflection and memory-keeping was to be) was actually my New Year's resolution that never came to fruition. Anyway, I digress...here goes with the journal keeping....
April 11, 2009
I was awakened from my deep sleep in my Daddy's recliner by the heavy weight of a box of cowboy boots being thrown on my chest. That's right folks...Shabunta got some kicker boots for her b-day! I'm not a cowgirl by any means (maybe a farm girl sometimes) but I love cowboy boots and so was excited that Mama got me some for my birthday. I had a really great day. I went fishing with my Daddy and my sis, Dacey. We didn't catch anything worth keeping, but it was worth it to get to spend time with Daddy and Dacey (Mama was exchanging my boots because my big ol' foot wouldn't fit in the original pair.) Instead of birthday cake, I had my usual birthday pie (delicious chocolate pie made by Dacey.) When we got in from fishing, Dacey grilled and Mama, Daddy, Dacey, and I hung out together and watched NCIS. Later that night, I got the sweetest "Happy Birthday" song from the Edmonson kids. What a wonderful birthday!
I've got pics that I'll post as soon as I figure out how. :)
